Dumb question, but hey...I've been cosplaying since '06, and a lot of my cosplays have been closet cosplays. I usually cosplay characters with decently casual clothing. (Like Detective Gumshoe from the Phoenix Wright games) I've gotten bashed many a time for my "closeting." But I feel like a lot of the clothing in my closet is suitable for the majority of my cosplays. Is it bad that most of my cosplays are closet, even if they ARE very good? (I've been complemented a lot as well)
closet cosplays can work out VERY well for characters that have casual wardrobes. i think the issue with closet cosplaying arises moreso when fantasy characters are cosplayed, or using an article of clothing from your closet to replace a very complicated part of the cosplay.
characters like Gumshoe (EXCELLENT!!!) are good characters to closet cosplay, because he does have a casual wardrobe, and there’s nothing especially difficult to make. if you’re cosplaying a character like yuna from final fantasy though, you don’t wanna just grab a long skirt and throw it on. that’s when closet cosplay gets bad.
That metapod. That face. He must be in the middle of using harden.
my mind also drifted to the edamame mameshiba…
I’m sorry, I just couldn’t NOT send this in.
Light and Ryuk everybody
they are like nendoroids….
An honest question: If one is going to a convention, and they are cosplaying, and they know that it's a common and traditional act for people to constantly stop you and request pictures, alone or with them, why on earth would you cosplay if you really don't want pictures taken? I ask due to the last Anon question. It seems a bit ignorant to cosplay, go to a convention, and then call the people who want pictures 'creepers' because they find your costume worth snapping a shot and/or are impressed.
good question! sometimes people just like to go, dress up, and leave out the picture part. that’s fine. the act of dressing up is a lot of fun, and some people just don’t want it on film.
when referring to picture creepers, there are some people who are very forceful and persistent about wanting to take your picture. for example, i said “no, please don’t take my picture please” to one man, who then walked “stealthily” by the booth and took my picture without asking. i noticed and told him to delete the picture please, and i suppose he did so. later in the day, he also crept up on a group of friends and myself, and took our picture without asking, even though i (and others) had specifically asked him not to.
so, that’s con-creepy for you. people who want your picture at cons might REAAAAALLY want your picture, and will be creepy and forceful while trying to get it.
why the fuck do you not update more often
